California State Railroad Museum
The California State Railroad Museum is the "Big Kahuna" of California Railroad Museums. It opened its doors to the public in 1976, and its current exhibit space totals more than 225,000 square feet. CSRM provides a wealth of historical information about California Railroads, is open daily except Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years; has a railroad library, provides train rides, and much more!
Visitors will enjoy the many exhibits the CSRM has to offer. Among them are: Southern Pacific Railroad No. 1 C.P. Huntington, AT&SF Dining Car No. 1474 Cochiti, Toy trains, library collections, photographs, and numerous others. San Francisco Cable Car Museum
The San Francisco Cable Car Museum was originally founded in 1974, and is currently operated as a non-profit organization by the Friends of the Cable Car Museum.
The Cable Car Museum is located in San Francisco's "Washington/Mason" cable car barn, and has a variety of displays open to the public. Some of the historic cable car museum displays are: mechanical devices, photographs, models, and three 1870's era antique cable cars.
